About
The Edison Recording Project
Started in 1999 by Edison historian Jack Stanley, The Edison Recording Project strives to capture the voices of influential personalities for the benefit of future generations. We start by asking, "What is your message for the future?" Your voice will be mechanically recorded onto a wax cylinder record, and will be archived and preserved. Wax cylinders can last almost indefinitely, under proper conditions. "the Project" is a private pursuit with no affiliation to any museums or institutions. It is entirely self funded and volunteer driven. Audio recordings will be made available on this website as they are digitized. The physical recordings are archived privately by "the Project," but not limited to being donated to institutions for permanent stewardship as necessary.
